With panoramic views across the bay to Dunnet Head and beyond, Valley views peaceful, country location is only 5 minutes drive from the main ferry link to the Orkney Islands and 25 minutes from John O’Groats. 15 minutes from the Castle of Mey and 2 miles from Thurso town Centre The main attractions of the area are the stunning wildlife watching opportunities, both at sea and on the land; Golf; Day-trips or launching point for visits to Orkney; The Castle of Mey; The Pulteney Distillery in Wick; Castle Sinclair Girnigoe; the beaches and coastal caves along the North coast; Borgie Forest; World championship surfing events at Wick and other beaches; and the ancient Cairns and burial chambers along the A9 in Caithness Strathy Point is nearby and is a well known spot for visitors to see whales or dolphins and a wide range of local bird life can be seen in Borgie Forest and in The Forsinard RSPB reserve. There is a daily car ferry to Orkney from Scrabster harbour. A passenger ferry service which is met by a coach providing day tours of Orkney operates daily from John O' Groats, in the summer months, as do wildlife cruises. Orkney gives you the chance to witness extraordinary history such as the oldest stone circle at Stenness and the famous ancient settlement inhabited 40 Centuries ago at Skara Brae. There are a couple of quality golf courses available here. Royal Dornoch is in the Top Ten in the world 2 hours away and a beautiful links course at Reay 15 minutes away and Wick Golf and Thurso Golf Course also nearby. Castle of Mey is one of many local visitor sites with Thurso, Wick, Durness and Ullapool on the main coastal tourist road as day trip destinations each with their own history and sites of interest such as Pulteney Distillery in Wick.
