At RestWorkPlay we have over 50 years of collective hospitality and property management experience to provide quality guests to our landlords, enabling them to have the peace of mind that you have us actively ensuring your stay in any of our properties enables you to do exactly as you need, be it Rest, Work or Play.

My name is Bridget Cheyne. My family have been in Shetland for over 400 years, originally in Northmavine on Mainland and more recently on Fetlar. My great-grandfather, Watson Cheyne, grew up in the Manse on Fetlar, where his grandfather was Minister.

He became a famous surgeon and microbiologist, working with Lord Lister of antiseptic fame, who he met at Edinburgh University.  Lord Lister took this island boy to Kings College Hospital in London, but he missed his childhood home, so he bought the land at Houbie on Fetlar in 1900 and built a magnificent house and garden for himself and his family.

My father formed Leagarth Estates, which owns the main house, Leagarth and the holiday cottages, The Lodge and The Peerie house. Today I run the company for all my extended family. Although we no longer live full-time on Fetlar, the house and land are used extensively by all family members and loved by us just as it was by my great-grandfather all those years ago.
