About

Receive a warm welcome at Purgavie Farm. Located on the farm itself, our Bed & Breakfast accommodation is set in the quiet countryside with stunning views over the Strathmore Valley. Cosy and traditional, it provides the perfect peaceful base for exploring Angus. Our bedrooms are large and comfortable and offer fantastic views of the surrounding glens. We have one double, one twin, and one family room. Each room comes with ensuite bathroom, TV, and tea-making facilities to ensure you feel at home. We also have a spacious dining room for mealtimes, a lounge and lovely conservatory area that guests are welcome to use. Nearby sights include Glamis Castle (15 minutes’ drive) which was the Queen Mothers’ childhood residence, and home to Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The gorgeous Glens Clova, Prosen and Glenisla are all very close. The backwater of Glenisla provides excellent fishing, as does Lintrathen Loch (only a short walk from the farm). You’ll find a lot of good walking routes and wildlife watching in the surrounding area too, including the walk to Kirriemuir (6.5 miles) which passes by Kinnordy Loch. Kirriemuir, located 5 miles north of Forfar, is our nearest settlement and very easily accessible (2 hours by foot for a scenic walk, or 12 minutes by car). Here music fans will find a statue of Bon Scott, lead vocalist of AC/DC, who grew up in Kirriemuir. The town is most famously the birthplace of JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan. You can visit the house where he was born, which is now a museum. All the comforts expected of a small Scottish town can be found in Kirriemuir, with a number of excellent local pubs and eateries, as well as a co-op, a local butchers, a post office, a pharmacy, a petrol station and a coffee house.
